Five apprehended in joint operations

Imphal, February 19 2025:
Joint operations conducted by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police across Kangpokpi, Imphal West, and Bishnupur districts on February 17 resulted in the apprehension of five armed cadres and the seizure of nine weapons.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) press release, acting on specific intelligence about the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Tingkhai Khullen village, about 12 km south of Ko-tlen village in Kangpokpi district, security forces launched a search operation.
The operation led to the recovery of one automatic rifle, one .32 mm pistol, one .22 mm pistol, four single-barrel rifles, one mortar, ammunition, and other war-like stores.
Additionally, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted four intelligence-driven joint operations.
In the first operation, based on intelligence regarding the presence of cadres, security personnel searched the Housing Complex area in Langol, Imphal West district, resulting in the apprehension of two members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) (KK Nganba) faction.
Materials linked to extortion activities were also recovered.
In a separate operation in Leimaram area, Bishnupur district, security forces detained a suspected individual who, upon questioning, confirmed his affiliation with the PLA.
Mobile phones and cash used in extortion activities were recovered from his possession.
During a third operation at Yurembam, Imphal West district, security personnel detained another suspect who admitted to being a cadre of the KCP-PWG faction.
A search of the individual resulted in the recovery' of a pistol, ammunition, and war-like stores.
Similarly, in a joint operation conducted in Uripok area, Imphal West district, security forces detained a suspected individual who, upon interrogation, acknowledged his allegiance to the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive).
The apprehended individuals and recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation, said the PRO .
