Moirang, June 04 2025:
Jamiatul-Ulema has demanded a clarification and public apology from former Pradhan Danny for allegedly firing at a group of Jamiatul-Ulema leaders and others who were returning from Imphal after providing relief assistance to the flood victims of Kairang and Khomidok, Imphal East on June 3 .
Speaking at a press meet held at the office of Jamiatul-Ulema, Anjuman Islam Musaira, vice-president, Sahidur Rahaman stated that on June 3, members of Jamiatul Ulema, Kwakta along with other civil society organisation leaders and Kwakta Municipal Council, Councillors headed to Kairang and Khomidok to distribute relief materials to the flood affected victims.
On their way to Kairang and Khomidok, in the presence of All Manipur Jamiat leaders and Bishnupur Jamiat leaders, the former Pradhan, (popularly as Danny), waited for them in front of his gate.
Stopping the group in front of his residence, Danny inquired about the other leaders who were not there and told them to hand over the relief materials to him, claimed Rahaman.
After declining his request, the group went ahead to distribute the relief materials at Kairang and Khomidok.
However, on their way back to distribute the relief materials at other locations, the former Pradhan allegedly blocked them using foul language and opened several rounds of fire deliberately attempting to attack the vehicles of Manipur Jamiat and Bishnupur Jamiat presidents.
The Ulema, who is the secretary of Jamiat, Kwakta was also allegedly dragged from the vehicle and beaten by Danny, said Rahaman.
Condemning the incident, Rahaman on behalf of Jamiatul-Ulema Kwakta, ANJUMAN, CSOs and the people urged the Jamiatul-Ulema of the State to investigate the matter and punish Danny accordingly.
He also warned the former Pradhan to apologise publicly and surrender before Jamiatul-Ulema by June 5, 2025 .
If Danny fails to issue a clarification, the Jamiatul-Ulema, Kwakta along with ANJUMAN and civil society organisations after thorough deliberation will resort to legal action.
