DC, SP facilitate peace meet in Thoubal

Thoubal, May 24 2023: As part of the ini-tiatives to restore peace and normalcy in the state, Thoubal district administration and police led by the DC and the SP organised a peace meet along with villagers of Phanjakhong, Chandrakhong, Malom and Pitra which are adjacent to Kuki villages under Senapati district on Wednesday.

The meeting was held at Phanjakhong Thumkhong Lairemba Lairembi Shanglen, during which SP Jogeshchan-dra Haobijam said that a CDO team has been deployed in the area to prevent unwanted incidents since the violence broke out.

As per the request of the surrounding villages, additional force of 35 IRB per-sonnel is also stationed there, he said while urging the public to stay calm and not to worry.

The SP also assured to dis-cuss the demand for a police outpost in the area with senior officials.

In his address, DC Subhash said that the district adminis-tration is taking every possible measure to prevent spread of the communal clash in the area.

Following the deploy-ment of police personnel, several villagers, who fled home out of fear from be-ing attacked, have returned home, he said and urged the public to trust the district administration and district police.
