DC Thoubal urges villagers from district periphery to return home

Thoubal, May 24 2023:
Deputy Commissioner Thoubal Ahanthem Subash has urged people from the peripheral villages of Thoubal who fled in the aftermath of the May 3 violence to have faith in the security measures undertaken by the State Government return and to their homes.
Deputy Commissioner Thoubal made the appeal while interacting with villagers of Phanjakhong, Chandrakhong, Malom, Leirongthel and Leirongthel Pitra during a public meeting to address the security concerns of the villagers.
It may be noted that the aforementioned villages borders Saram Patong village of Senapati district.
The public meeting was held at Phanjakhong Thumkhong Lairemba Lairembi Sanglen.

Jogeshchandra Haobijam, SP Thoubal shared that since violence erupted recently, a CDO team has been deployed at Phanjakhong and Chandrakhong villages which are located at the periphery of the district.
As per the wishes of the villagers, an additional 35 IRB personnel have been stationed between the two villagers to safeguard the villagers and prevent the occurence of unwanted incidents.
Assuring to consult with higher ups regarding the villagers' appeal to set up an outpost for State forces, he urged the villagers to have faith and not to be distressed.
Stating that numerous security forces have been deployed at Phanjakhong and Chadrakhong for the safety of the villagers, DC Thoubal Ahanthem Subhash said that many villagers who fled to relief camps have returned as a result.
He made an appeal to the villagers to have faith in the safety and security measures undertaken by the District Administration and District Police and cooperate with them wholeheartedly.
Notable high-ranking police officers of the district, Kh Sobha Singh, nominee member, Wangkhem Zilla Parishad; Salam Kumar, Pradhan nominee, Ningel GP and villagers of the area participated in today's public meeting.
It may be noted that the District Administration Thoubal and District Police Thoubal have been consistently taking up steps to restore normalcy in remote villages of the district located close to the foothills.
