Seven injured in lightning strike

Imphal, November 20 2024: At least seven persons sustained serious injuries after being struck by lightning while threshing paddy at Akham Maning Nganu Loukol under Lamsang police station on Wednesday.

The injured have been identified as Heikrujam Sarat (34) s/o (L) Nupamacha and Hijam Shamu (50) s/o Ibohan of Khongjom Sapam Mamang; Konsam Joykumar (26) s/o Sanaton of Lamsang Akham; Leishangthem Basant (4oj s/o Ibohan of Tekcham Konjil; Thokchom Prabeen (30) s/o Thoiba of Thoubal Thoudam Leirak Mamang; Thokchom Dayananda (21) s/o Samananda of Thoubal Leishangthem; and Mayanglambam Gobin (35) s/o (L) Sobha of Thoubal Leishangthem Thoudam.

Almost all of them suffered head trauma and were rushed to RIMS Hospital for treatment.

As per reports, the seven ducked under the threshing machine after sudden rainfall but were struck by lightning around 1.30 pm .
