MSFDS, FFM to celebrate Mami Numit on April 9

Imphal, April 07 2023: Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) and Film Forum Manipur will celebrate Mami Numit on April 9 at MSFDS Complex Palace Gate, Imphal East.

Mami Numit is celebrated by Film Forum Manipur every year commemorating the day Manipuri cinema was born with the release of 'Matamgee Manipur' an April 9, 1972 .

The celebration programme would include offering of floral tribute at Memorial stone of Manipuri Cinema from 2 pm onwards along with formal function at the Palace Auditorium and subsequently an entertainment programme at MSFDS courtyard in the evening.

On the occasion of Mani Numit, MSFDS and Film Forum Manipur have extended their warm wishes to each and every film lovers, enthusiasts, film-goers, activists, exhibitors and practitioners of the state.

As part of the event, three scholastic presentations on Film Archiving & Preservation by Film Heritage Foundation, (Mumbai), National Film Archive of India (Pune) and Manipuri film archivist Johnson Rajkumar would conduct a seminar on 'Film Archiving & Preservation' organised by MSFDS.

The seminar would be part of the celebration of 3rd foundation day of SN Chand Cine Archive & Museum.

SN Chand Cine Archive & Museum of MSFDS was inaugurated by chief minister N Biren Singh on April 9, 2021 .

MSFDS has also informed all film practitioners of the state that it is unable to organise the distribution of the annual Manipur State Film Awards of 2023 on April 9 as done conventionally.

However, 15th Manipur State Film Awards 2023, for films made in 2022 will be organised in May 2023 after due competition of the process like 'Call for Entries' and due 'Selection by concerned juries' .
