CoTU shuts government office in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, April 16 2024:
The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills closed government offices in Kangpokpi district from Tuesday except the office of DEO/DC.
Various government offices in Kangpokpi district including offices of the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Town Employment Exchange and others have been indefinitely closed in the aftermath of Phailengmol killing.
CoTU leaders also met District Election Officer (DEO) Mahesh Chaudhari and apprised him about the Phailengmol incident and placed some charter of demands including judicial probe into the Phailengmol incident and delivery of bodies of the two deceased volunteers by Tuesday midnight.
CoTU leaders also Warned of closing the DEO/DC office from April 16 if it fails to the deliver the bodies of Kuki-Zo village volunteers by Tuesday midnight.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of closure of government offices, CoTU media cell coordinator Ng Lun Kipgen contended that the committee was compelled to close all government offices in Kangpokpi district headquarters in continuation of the public protest against the Phailengmol incident and failure to locate and deliver bodies of the volunteers.
