Current crisis acid test for unity: RK Sanayaima

Imphal, December 30 2024: Asserting that the present time reflects the period of "Lang-on Langdai' (tribulation period) marked by societal upheaval, former UNLF chairman RK Sanayaima (Meghen) has opined that only those who unite will survive the tribulation to write a new history, while those who fail to do so will perish.

Sanayaima shared his observation on Monday during the 88th birth anniversary of Nongmeikappam Sanajaoba, the founding editor of Lamyanba, a monthly journal of the Pan Manipur Youth League (PMYL) .

The commemorative event organised by the NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound, here had the gathering offering floral tributes to the portrait of NK Sanajaoba.

Recalling Sanajaoba's multifaceted contributions to the society as a revolutionary, journalist, and socio-cultural activist, Sanayaima remembered him as a trailblazer in investigative journalism while pointing out that the present generation has much to learn from Sanajaoba's life and work.

In the Lamyanba magazine, Sanajaoba fearlessly exposed corruption and administrative flaws through his regular column 'Yukhal Marumda', written under the pen name Thengra.

Despite attempts by corrupt individuals to compromise his integrity, he remained steadfast in his principles and commitment to societal reform, Sanayaima said.

He noted that while it is encour aging to see many youths stepping forward to defend the motherland, adopting Sanajaoba's principles and demonstrating the same level of integrity and commitment would shape them into true sons of the soil.

NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust general secretary L Jadumani lauded Sanajaoba's uncompromising stance in pointing out individuals or policies opposing the vision of a new and better Manipur.

Jadumani remarked that in the context of the ongoing conflict and disconnect between the public and the government, revisiting Sanajaoba's ideals and drawing inspiration from his principles could be instrumental in fostering unity and progress.
