Governor appoints N Roshibina as DSP (Sports)

Imphal, March 26 2025:
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday handed over the appointment letter to Arjuna awardee Wushu player Naorem Roshibina Devi, appointing her as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sports) in a simple function held at Raj Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Ajay noted that Roshibina had won several medals in Asian Games, national and international tournaments.
In recognition of her contributions in the field of sports and for being a source of inspiration to the younger generations, the state government had decided to appoint her as DSP (Sports), he stated.
Recognised as a trailblazer in Wushu, Roshibina has brought laurels to the state and the nation with her outstanding performances on the international stage.

During the ceremony, Governor Bhalla congratulated her and extended his best wishes for continued success in both her sporting career and new administrative role.
The appointment underscores the government's commitment to promoting sports and supporting athletes who have excelled at the highest levels, he said.
The ceremony was attended by her coach and family members.
Recognising her outstanding achievements in national and international tournaments, the Manipur government approved her appointment during a cabinet meeting chaired by then chief minister N Biren Singh on January 30, 2025 .
Roshibina's illustrious career includes a silver medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China (2023), a silver at the World Wushu Championship in Texas, USA (2023), and a gold medal at the Moscow Wushu Stars Championship in Russia (2023) .
Her remarkable achievements earned her the prestigious Arjuna Award, presented by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 9, 2024 .
Former Governor Anusuiya Uikey had also acknowledged her accomplishments by granting her Rs 1 lakh during a ceremony at Raj Bhavan on January 13, 2024 .
