Thoubal, November 20 2024:
Calling for an end to ongoing agitations in different pockets of the state, Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi has highlighted the urgent need for a unified movement in the heart of Imphal city to protect the Meeteis from extinction and save Manipur.
On Wednesday, Heirok Apunba Club and Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi jointly organised a sit-in protest to denounce the brutal murder of six civilians, including three children, after abducting by armed Kuki militants.
Speaking on the sidelines of the sit-in, Apunba Meira Paibi co-convenor Ningthoujam Rita, lamented that in-spite of attacks and killings occurring occasionally in fringe villages, the government authorities are hesitating to launch effective crackdown against the perpetrators.
As such, the public should air their grievances with all intensity at the 'bungalow' of so-called public leaders in Imphal city.
Yurembam Ibenaobi, daughter of Yurembam Rani, who was among the six killed by the armed Kuki militants, demanded that those involved in the brutal murder should be arrested within three days and awarded befitting punishment.
The protestors used placards inscribed with the messages such as "Declare Kuki militants involved in the killing of the 6 innocent persons as terrorist", "Repeal AFSPA from Manipur immediately", "Uproot Kuki narco-terrorists from Manipur", "Justice for rape and murder victims", etc.
