Quiz competition on 1891 War conducted

Imphal, August 27 2024: As part of the month-long observance of the "27th Athoubasingi Numit" organised by BJP Manipur Pradesh, a quiz competition on the theme "Know Your Manipur: Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891" was held at Thambal Shanglen office of the BJP, here, on Tuesday.

Speaking as the chief guest, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba emphasised the importance of better understanding of Manipur to effectively work for the state's welfare and development.

While we often mention that Manipur is surrounded by nine hills, many of us do not even know their names.

The quiz competition themed Know Your Manipur - The Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 is aimed at helping the masses have better understanding of our state.

Everyone loves their homeland, but it is crucial to fully comprehend everything about it, Sanajaoba stressed.

He also mentioned that before becoming a Rajya Sabha MP, he would listen to speeches by prominent political leaders who described Manipur as a state overwhelmed by problems, with no hope for improvement.

Despite this bleak outlook, the MP said, he believed that every problem has a solution.

Therefore, to save Manipur, we need to mould a new generation who genuinely love their homeland, work diligently, and act with integrity, he said and added that with these qualities, all the challenges in the state could be overcome.

He also highlighted that the BJP's ideology is "Nation First", and the party is committed to living and acting according to this principle.

PM Modi emphasises that the nation should be put before everything else because the citizens must sincerely love their homeland for the country to develop and surpass others.

To truly love one's motherland, it is essential to understand it thoroughly, he added.

The function was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, MLAs Karam Shyam and Kh Ibomcha.

Altogether 15 teams took part in the competition.
