Imphal, July 14 2010: The 8 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector has presented solar street lights to T Jagnum and MT Lhangjol village in Chandel district on July 9 even as the 43 AR of the same sector conducted a medical camp at Old Somtal village of the district on July 13 .

A PRO IGAR (S) release said that more than 150 patients including IED victims were diagnosed and provided free medicines besides conducting a lecture on 'prevention against malaria and water-borne diseases' as a part of the AR endeavour.

Moreover, towards enlightenment through education, the AR unit presented a desktop computer and provided electricity to the Old Somtal school, the PRO informed.

At Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School, Thoubal a multi-media lecture cum discussion on HIV/AIDS was organised by 15 Assam rifles during which the Unit Commandant highlighted importance of good health during his inauguration speech.

Medical officer of this unit gave a detailed lecture and interacted with the youth on different facets of HIV/AIDS, the release informed adding that a film on the subject was also screened to the attendees.
