Road safety month concludes in Kamjong

Ukhrul, January 27 2025: To mark the end of the observance of the National Road Safety Month 2025, Kamjong district administration on Monday organised a commemoration programme at Kamjong town hall drawing a large gathering who stepped forward in promoting road safety.

Attending the event as chief guest, Kamjong DC Rangnamei Rang Peter lauded the public for their active participation in various programmes held in connection with the observance of road safety month in the district.

He reminded the gathering about the roles and responsibilities of several agencies on key measures and practices for road safety while also exhorting the youth to spread awareness about road safety to reduce accident-related fatalities and injuries.

In his welcome address, Kamjong ADC HL Jain reiterated the importance of knowledge of traffic rules and regulations in order to maintain road safety and safeguard public life.

Kamjong SP Ningshem Vashum, who attended the event as guest of honour, urged the gathering to partake in promoting road safety, asserting that road safety measures should be a shared responsibility for all young and old so as to ensure a site environment for all.

Prize distribution for the District Level Quiz Competition and Painting Competition was also held during the programme attended by large number of students, leaders of CSOs, headmen, pastors, and youths of the surrounding villages.

Later, in the day, the dignitaries led a public rally from Kamjong town hall to Police gate with hundreds of rallyists promoting road safety awareness to the general public.

It may be mentioned that National Road Safety Month is being observed from January 1 to 31, 2025 to propagate the cause for safer roads tor all under the theme, 'Be a Road Safety Hero' .
