PREPAK condoles demise of its chairman

The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and its armed wing, Red Army, have condoled the demise of chairman Heikrujam Ibotombi Khuman alias Ngamdairen Khuman alias Oja Inao alias Oja Macha (75), of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, who passed away in a hospital on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by its affairs, publicity, and propaganda in-charge, Leibaak Ngaakpa Luwang, PREPAK would observe a condolence service in his honour and offer revolutionary salute by flying the flag at half-mast in its Central Headquarters (CHQ), General Headquarters (GHQ), training centres, transit camps, and base areas until his 'Laanna Thouram' day.
The sudden demise of the leader, whom the party members fondly called Oja Macha, is an irreparable loss for the organisation, the statement said.
Born on August 12, 1949, as the eldest of five sons of Heikrujam Gopalmacha dnd Nameirakpam Ningol Heikrujam Ongbi Kamini, Oja Macha is survived by two sons and one daughter.
Since his childhood, he had been active in social activities driven by his sense of patriotism.
He studied at Kha Imphal High School, Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai, from primary to high school and completed Master's degree in Political Science from Manipur University, Canchipur, and Master's degree in Tribal Administration from Sangai International University, Churachandpur.
From a young age, he followed 'Wangkhei Tomba' as an active member of the Meitei State Committee and began working towards the freedom movement.
However, the movement did not last long as the government started arresting its leaders one after another.
He actively participated in the activities of the then Revolutionary Government of Manipur (RGM) and was arrested in the then East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh) in 1969, where he spent time in Maulavi Sub Jail and Sylhet Central Jail.
After being transferred to the government of India, he was lodged in Kailasahr Sub Jail, Agartala Central Jail, and Imphal Central Jail, and later again in Agartala Central Jail.
He was released from Agartala Central Jail in 1972 following a general amnesty granted by the then state government.
After PREPAK was established on October 9, 1977, he became actively involved in the party's activities, spreading the party's ideologies by visiting every nook and corner and recruiting cadres.
He assumed the position of chairman of PREPAK on March 27, 1983.During his tenure as chairman, he visited Nepal, Bangladesh, and China, trying to establish good relationships with their respective.
governments.
He also personally interacted with cadres and conducted political classes on the party's ideologies and goals by visiting the Red Army's GHQ, training centres, transit camps, and base areas.
Words fall short in explaining his contribution to the people of Kangleipak.
He was known for his states-manship, integrity, cool nature, level-headed decisions, and constructive interactions with several leaders, recalled the statement.
PREPAK and its armed wing, Red Army, expressed profound sorrow over the sudden demise of such an invaluable leader, not only for the party but also for the 'motherland', and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
The party also shares the grief and pain of the bereaved family, relatives, friends, well-wishers, and followers, the statement added.
