Thoubal, October 09 2021:
Deputy chief minister Y Joykumar has expressed firm confidence that his National People's Party (NPP) will win absolute majority and form a whole new government in the state after the upcoming 2022 assembly elections.
Attending a felicitation programme of NPP's intending candidate from Heirok assembly constituency N Diten held at Heirok Part-1 Umanglai Laikol on Friday, the deputy chief minister said that public often see BJP and Congress as the two main rivals but NPP is emerging as the party to beat in the upcoming elections.
NPP has finalised its candidates and it has a strong list of 40 candidates to be fielded for 40 assembly seats with high potentials of winning the election, he said.
The deputy CM then urged NPP's intending candidates to interact with the public with humility and avoid any sorts of poll related violence.
People often resort to violence when they feel insecure of their position, he reasoned.
Improving road connectivity, education, healthcare sector, safe drinking water, empowerment of youth and women empowerment, etc., are the main priorities of NPP and these are also the priority areas which need focus in order to bring development in a society, he said.
On the other hand, NPP is dedicated towards the cause of the northeast region as unity among the NE states is a must to bring peace and development in the region.
After Meghalaya, Manipur will be the second state in northeast to have an NPP government.
Unlike other national parties, NPP exists mainly for northeast region, he said while maintaining that only a strong party with regional outlook can bring true development.
In his address, Diten said that Heirok, despite having ministers in the last 10 terms, is still experiencing lack of development and NPP is the new way forward for a better Heirok AC.
He assured of providing safe drinking water to the public within the first six months if he gets elected.
He also assured of more government high schools in different parts of Heirok and PHSCs for every 5000 population.
NPP state president N Kayisii, general secretary organisation Noor Hassan and other party leaders also attended the function.
