Imphal, November 26 2015:
Under the supervision of department of Health and Family Welfare and Food Safety, a team led by Food Safety Officer, Imphal East Th Sunilkumar on Wednesday visited the food stalls opened at the ongoing Sangai Festival and inspected whether the stalls are following the norms of food safety or not.
During the visit, Th Sunilkumar said that there were a total of 63 food stalls in the ongoing Sangai Festival.
Since the first day, the food stalls have been asked to maintain quality besides keeping their stalls in hygienic condition.
Wednesday's inspection was made after the visitors complained about the food stalls, said Sunilkumar.
The Imphal East Food Safety Officer further said that those persons who were without aprons, caps and hand-gloves at the food stalls were asked to wear the necessary immediately.
The team also asked the food stalls not to use or mix flavours and warned them that penalties will be imposed under Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Business) Regulation Act 2011 if nonstandard and unpermitted flavours were found mixed with the food, added Sunilkumar.
