Japan & Manipur take 'Pledge of Reconciliation' at MBC

The two-day long programme "Pledge of Reconciliation" between Japan and Manipur (India) concluded on Thursday at Manipur Baptist Convention Centre Church (MBCCC), Imphal.
The programme was jointly organised by Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) and All Japan Revival Mission (AJRM) .
The act of reconciliation was conducted by exchanging Holy Bibles at Maibam Lokpaching, a historical location of World War II.
Jev Jun Takimoto, executive member of AJRM represented Japan while Rev Dr W Konghar, MBC General Secretary represented Manipur.
Representatives from other countries like Thailand, Korea and USA also attended the reconciliation programme.
Later, the main reconciliation programme was held at MBC, Church Centre in the evening.
The memorandum of reconciliation was read out by those present in the programme.
It read as "We hereby solemnly pledge on the behalf of the people of Japan and Manipur, India as Christians saved by Gods' grace that will forgive unconditionally any kind of atrocity inflicted upon one another during the Second World War in the name of our crucified and risen lord Jesus Christ, the prince of peace, the king of kings and the lords of lords, the forgiver of our sins on this historic day on November 26" .
The pledge stated that "as a sigh of forgiveness, a legacy our friendship and reconciliation, we the people representing the two countries in the presence of other nations in one accord and in one voice declare that we sincerely forgive one another without holding any grudges against each other, forgetting the past mistakes and resolved that we love one another, help each other to grow together in Christ and to join hands together for the furtherance of Gods's Kingdom and for his glory.
We further pledged to commit ourselves to the mission of reconciliation for the promotion of peace and prosperity in our global village." Those present on the occasion unanimously declared that they were reconciled through Christ.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Jev Jun Takimoto informed that All Japan Revival Mission (AJRM) team who visited the State for the programme comprised of 26 members from Japan, 6 from Thailand and one each from USA and Korea.
Takimoto said the AJRM will also organize this type of reconciliation programme in Kohima, Nagaland on Friday, November 27 .
He further stated that they had organised the same programme in Thailand last year and hoped to continue to do the same in other countries like Myanmar where Japanese soldiers reached during the Second World War.
