Four held with heroin, brown sugar, WY tablets

Imphal, March 23 2023: Police on Wednesday arrested a man along with 257 gram of heroin powder and another person with 3 kilogram of opium and 6.5 Kg of poppy seeds from Imphal East and Churachandpur districts respectively.

According to police reports, a combined team of Imphal East district commando led by OC inspector Kh Pathou Meetei and Heingang police station led by OC inspector Kh Henery Singh rounded up one Md Ilyas Khan alias Sana (23) son of Md Abdul Wahab of Irong Mathak Leikai in Thoubal district along with 257 gram of heroin from Kairang Muslim Thongkhong.

The contraband item was found contained in 21 soap cases.

The police also seized a Maruti Suzuki SX4 car Md Ilyas Khan was travelling in.

The arrestee along with the seized items has been handed over to Heingang police station for further investigation.

On the other hand, one Henkholen Lupheng (30) son of late Thangngam Lupheng of M Semoul village in Churachandpur district was arrested from his residence by the district police along with 3 kilogram of opium and 6.5 Kg of poppy seeds.

As per a police statement, the district police led by OC inspector N Thangzamuan accompanied by SDM (Thanlon) Lalthanzam Fimate searched the house of Henkholen from around 11:30 am and recovered 3 kilogram of opium packed in three 'Everyday' salt packets each weighing 1 Kg along with 6.5 Kg of opium seeds.

Henkholen along with the seized items has been handed over to Churachandpur police station where a case has been registered for further investigation, the police statement informed.

In another drug-related case, a team of Tengnoupal police station under the supervision of SP B Go Lian Mang seized two bundles wrapped in yellow plastic packets containing suspected WY tablets from one auto rickshaw.

Driven by Limkhohao Baite (39) son of late Ngamjang Baite of Mission Veng, Moreh Ward No 2, the auto rickshaw (Compact black in colour) bearing registration no MN06SB 0871 coming from Moreh towards Imphal was stopped for checking at about 3pm on Thursday.

On weighing the seized bundles wrapped in yellow plastic containing suspected WY tablets, by using a weighing scale, it was found to be 2.276 kg including the weight of packaging materials.

The arrested person and seized items have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station for further necessary action.

Meanwhile, cur Churachandpur correspondent informed that a team of Churachandpur PS seized 401gm Brown sugar from the possession of one Lallemzou Manlun (25, wife of Vungbiak-lal Manlun of Canaan Veng, New Lamka and her neighbour Chinlamneng Manlun on Thursday evening.

The police team first raided Lallemzou Manlun's house at about 5.30pm and seized 23 soap cases containing brown sugar found under her pillow, which was later found to weigh 329 gm.

From the disclosure of Lallemzou, the house of her neighbour Chinlamneng Manlun was also raided at about 6.55pm arid seized five soap cases and one polythene packet containing 72gm suspected brown sugar.
