31 students barred, school secretary held

Imphal, February 19 2025:
Parents and guardians of the 31 students enrolled in P Namjoklung High School, P Sawombung Sairam, who are unable to appear for the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) after the school authority failed to submit the requisite documents for the same, have appealed to authority concerned to allow the students appear in the examination in the interest of their academic and future career.
Meanwhile, Lamphel police station has arrested P Namjoklung High School secretary cum principal in-charge Andrew Palmei on Tuesday.
He was produced before the court of CJM Imphal East on Wednesday which remanded him to police custody for further investigation.
On Wednesday, the aggrieved students and their parents/guardians held a press meet, wherein a guardian informed that the school authority failed to initiate registration process for the students in time.
As such, the students did not received their admit cards, consequently barring them from appearing in the examination which began on Wednesday.
Blaming the school authority for the unprecedented lapses, the guardian urged the government authorities to look into the matter and take up necessary action, including revocation of recognition of the school, so as to prevent other students from facing similar misfortune in the future.
The guardian then appealed to the authority concerned to allow the 31 students, who could not appear the examination due to the fault of the school authorities, to sit for the examination for the sake of their future.
The guarding further appealed to the authority to take up steps to ensure smooth transfer of the students currently enrolled in P Namjoklung High School to other schools.
Mention may be made here that School secretary cum principal in-charge Andrew Palmei had clarified on Tuesday that around 31 students (16 male, 15 female) were studying in Class X.Although the students had submitted the necessary forms and paid the requisite fees for the examination, he was not able to submit the same to BSEM in time due to an illness in his family.
He tried to submit the filled-up forms after the last date but was denied.
