Imphal, September 15 2024:
CPI Manipur State Council paid befitting tributes to party's leader (late) Th Bira on his 98th birth anniversary observed Sunday at Irawat Bhawan, BT road.
Delivering the key note address of the anniversary function, CPI state former secretary L Sotinkumar recalled Th Bira as a person who dedicated his entire life for the causes of the people of Manipur apart from shouldering immense responsibility for the party.
He said Manipur is fortunate to have had a leader like Bira, who was born on September 15, 1926 at Keishampat Keish am Leikai.
If Manipur has a leader like Th Bira, there would be no threat to territorial integrity of Manipur, he added.
According to L Sotinkumar, there is no leader fully committed to defending the land and preserve the territorial integrity of Manipur intact at present and all the ministers, MLAs and even bureaucrats work for their own selfish ends only.
Thoughts of the present leaders of Manipur are quite contradictory to that of Th Bira, who worked and fought for a new Manipur, Sotinkumar said and also recalled contributions of Th Bira for Manipur.
CPI Manipur state council secretary L Thoirel also said that late Bira, who worked tirelessly for the development and wellbeing of the youth of Manipur, was the first secretary of state unit of All India Students' Federation.
Th Bira also worked closely with women, farmers and peasants to bring a change in the society, Thoirel added.
The observance function was also attended by CPI Manipur state council assistant secretary M Joykumar, CMPI (M) secretary Ksh Shanta and other party leaders.
