Imphal, March 23 2023: Security forces arrested three cadres of different underground outfits in two separate operations today.

The arrested UG cadres have been identified as Wahengbam Paikhomba (33)-an active member of RPF/PLA, Chandam Chandramani Singh (45) and Sorokhaibam Khamba Meitei (46), both members of PREPAK (Pro) .

Wahengbam Paikhomba Meitei alias Nanao alias Akajao is son of W Pahari Meitei of Kumbi Thingel Leikai.

He was arrested by a combined team of Bishnupur commandos and a column of 16 Assam Rifles from his residence at Kumbi Thingel Leikai today at around 11 am.

Wahengbam Paikhomba is allegedly involved in extortion from various individuals and Government offices in Bishnupur and Imphal West district, said police.

The operation was conducted under the command of Subedar Y Shaktishen Singh, OC Bishnupur Commando under the supervision of Roni Mayengham, Addl SP (Ops) and N.Herojit Meetei, Senior SP Bishnupur.

According to police, on spot verification, Paikhomba disclosed that he joined RPF/PLA in the year 2007 through one Keba and was arrested earlier in the year 2014.He was working under one Chinglen (finance section) for extortion of money in the general area of Kwakeithel.

On the other hand, Chandam Chandramani Singh and Sorokhaibam Khamba Meitei, both members of PREPAK (Pro) were arrested from their residences at Lairenkabi Maning Leikai and Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai respectively, under Lamshang PS.

The two were arrested by a team led by OC Imphal West commando Inspector P Achouba Meitei.

Chandam Chandramani Singh alias Gambhir is son of (L) Ch Thambou.

According to the police, Chandramani disclosed that he started working for the organization a year ago under self-styled commander Khambaton of PREPAK (Pro), Finance Section who is presently staying in Myanmar.

He allegedly served monetary demands to several educational institutions in and around Imphal area and he was earlier arrested by security forces in the year 2001 .

After it was disclosed that he recruited one Sorokhaibam Khamba Meitei, S Narsingh Meitei of Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai around 2 weeks back, the team then rushed to the residence and arrested Khamba at around 7 am.

During preliminary interrogation, police said Khamba disclosed that they were planning to go to Myanmar as instructed by their commander for performing their party activities.

The two have been handed over to Lamshang police station.
