Imphal, July 14 2010: The issue of publication of DPC result for appointment of primary teachers before it was officially declared today rocked the state Assembly when the Opposition placed the same on the floor of the House as a calling attention motion.

In reply to the calling attention motion moved by the opposition members MLAs, Ng Bijoy, RK Anand, Dr I Ibohal of MPP and opposition leader, Radhabinod Koijam, Education Minister, L Jayentakumar said that the matter is under investigation by a high level committee, and action would be taken up as per the report of the committee.

Mention may be made that the three editions of the Hueiyen Lanpao had published in series the result of the DPC which had gone missing just minutes before it was going to be pasted on the notice board of the Directorate of Education (S) on April 22 this year.

The order for declaration of the DPC result was issued by the Director of Edn (S), M Harekrishna on April 22 last, the Hueiyen Lanpao reported before making the result public.

The high level committee of officers was constituted by a Cabinet decision taken after thorough discussion for two times on June 26 and 27, said the Edn Minister informing that the committee is led by Chief Secretary.

Presently the enquiry is in progress, he said assuring the house that appropriate action will be taken up as per the finding of the committee.

The period of enquiry committee has been announced earlier and he believed that the report of the enquiry will be submitted timely, the minister said.

Earlier moving the call attention motion in the house, MLA Ng Bijoy revealed that as per the results published in the Hueiyen Lanpao, a total of 512 candidates passed in general category with 51 candidates in the waiting list.

A total of 322 candidates selected for the scheduled tribe category with another 32 candidates in the waiting list.

For the OBC, 117 candidates declared successful with another 18 in the waiting list.

For the schedule case 21 candidates cleared the DPC and two were in the waiting list.

He asked how the top confidential document was leak to the newspaper.

Action should be taken up to those officials involved in leaking the documents under the Official Secrecy Act.

The DPC should be re-conducted, he demanded among others.

Opposition members, Dr I Ibohalbi, RK Anand and Radhabinod Koijam also while giving their observation urged the government for transparency in the appointment of teachers.

In this observation Radhabinod asked why enquiry is to be conducted when the result was published in a newspaper before government authority publicized.

The inquiry should be based on who is responsible for leaking the result.

The need of the hour is to look into whether the publicized result was a true one on not, he said.
