Regional FCI godown at Imphal on the card

Imphal, November 12 2013:
The National Food Security Act would be enforced in Manipur too by early next year and in addition, a regional office of FCI would be opened at Imphal, stated CAF&PD Union Minister of State (Independent charge) KV Thomas.
KV Thomas made this statement while interacting with media persons at Tulihal Airport today.
He would inaugurate a newly constructed FCI godown of 5000 metric tonnes at Mayangkhang Ningthoupham, Senapati district tomorrow.
Regarding implementation of the NFS Act, a meeting of the Food Ministers of the North Eastern States was held at Guwahati yesterday.
The Act would be implemented in the North East region including Manipur by February or March
next year.

"As proposed by Chief Minister O Ibobi to open a regional office of FCI at Imphal, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh asked me to translate the Chief Minister's proposal into action," he said.
Subsequently, KV Thomas has directed his staff to initiate due process for opening an FCI regional office at Imphal.
Later in the afternoon, the Union Minister of State held a meeting with the Chief Minister.
The Union Minister of State was received at Imphal airport by the State's Food Minister M Okendro and other officials.
KV Thomas would visit Senapati tomorrow and inaugurate the newly constructed FCI godown before departing Imphal.
