1st block of RIMS' Dental college building inaugurated

The first block of Dental College, RIMS was inaugurated today in a simple function.
High officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, SK Srivastava, additional secretary and financial adviser, Sakuntala Gamlin joint secretary and RP Meena director finance had come to RIMS for holding the important meeting on the allocation of developmental fund for RIMS.
Welcoming the high officials, Prof Sekharjit said that the second year students of Dental college are there.
In due course there will be higher classes, according to a statement.
Gamlin appreciated the excellent works done in RIMS and the two colleges.
Human character is more important than infrastructure.
She also mentioned the importance of dental health in maintaining general health of the people.
Prof Damayanti said that it was a big problem to accommodate the additional students of Post graduate and undergraduate students.
Staff strength has not been increased.
Besides it was with much difficulty that the file on Dental college was reopened.
Srivastava said that spot assessment is needed since Delhi is far off.
He also assured that efforts would be made to increase the staff as required.
The meeting relating to the fund allocation was always held in Delhi in the past.
However for the first time this meeting is held in RIMS.
Earlier the visiting officials accompanied by Director Prof S Sekharjit, chairman of the Hostel Development Committee, Prof N Damayanti, chief accounts officer E Debendra Meitei, deputy director (administration) Y Rajendra and others visited various sites.
These included hostels which had been completed and those which are still under construction.
The officials paid special attention to the ongoing construction of the out patient department and hostel for the interns.
The next fund allocation would be made on the basis of the satisfactory progress of the construction works.
Later they held a meeting with the high officials of RIMS on financial matter, the statement added.
