Imphal, April 03: Apart from being inquisitive on the modalities of the ongoing negotiations on the Indo-Naga issue and conceding naivety on its ultimate outcome, Member of Parliament (Outer Manipur) Mani Charenamei has strongly advocated unification of all Naga inhabited areas.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural programme of the 6th general conference of All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) today, the MP expressed innocence on how unanimity could be brought about by the lengthy peace process.

The conference which will continue till April 5 is being held under theme 'Call for collective responsibility towards making right decision' at Tumnoupokpi village of Senapati district.

Despite conceding that there is hardly any synonymity between the States of Nagaland and manipur, the MP was assertive that Naga people needs to live as one entity under a single administrative umbrella for which there should be no laxity in the effort to achieve the goal.

Highlighting to the people as well as those directly involved in the peace process that a tangible and worthy solution have to be brought about to avoid similar truce in the early 1960s which failed to serve its purpose or live upto the expectation of the people.

Declaring that the Naga people had elected him to voice aspiration of the Nagas, Mani Charenamei further affirmed that as long as the people repose their confidence upon him his commitment to the cause of the Nagas would never wane.

Noting that the ongoing peace parleys had generated some positive development, he said the movement had been able to evolve powerful and influential Naga civil society organisations which itself is a healthy sign that movement of the Nagas is progressing appreciably.

Cautioning the people that divisive forces are posing constant threat to the Naga integrity, he posed "are the Nagas strong and determined to thwart designs of the adverse elements.

Applauding the roles of Naga students in taking forward the cause of the Nagas, Charenamei insisted that there still lies numerous challenges and that Naga students should not fiddle with its responsibilities.

Contending that educational institutions in the hill areas are in worst conditions with the syllabus currently prescribed hard to digest for the students, he also opined that ANSAM's initiative to get hill district school affiliated to the NBSE had been successful.

Charenamei also informed that over 138 schools from abroad are affiliated to the CBSE despite the fact that these schools hardly have any financial or material assistance from the Govt of India or the fact that 90 percent of the students are of Indian origin.

With reference to the above, Charenamei affirmed that Naga students' preference to appear in examinations under the NBSE demonstrates yearning of the Naga students to pursue education of its interest.

In his address, ANSAM president Paul Langhu maintained that the 52 days economic blockade imposed some years back by the students' body was initiated for the cause and interest of the Naga people.

The three day congregation would cover holding legislative assembly of the ANSAM, symposium, elect office bearers and showcase cultural items.
