Senapati, November 06 2023:
After mobile phones of two missing students were recovered from Senapati by the district police, the Naga Peoples' Organisation (NPO) Senapati has issued a stern warning to individuals/groups concerned against dragging Nagas in the present conflict between Meiteis and Kukis.
The two mobile phones were found wrapped inside a polythene bag near a petrol pump in Senapati at midnight yesterday (intervening night of November 5 and 6) .
The mobile phones were picked up by Senapati police after the location was traced.
The handsets have been handed over to Lamshang police.
The mobile phones belong to Anvish Maibam (16) and Ningthoujam Anthony (19), who are suspected to have been abducted by miscreants yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Naga Peoples' Organization (NPO) Tahamzam, Senapati said it is extremely annoyed by the dastardly act of some miscreants who intentionally dropped the cell phones of the two missing Meitei youths at Senapati District HQs.
The two students are suspected to have been kidnapped by unknown miscreants, and their mobile phones were "intentionally" dropped off at Senapati.
Such deceitful acts are intended to drag the Nagas and flare up misunderstandings between different communities, said NPO in a statement.
Nagas of Senapati have been constantly maintaining neutrality, but unscrupulous miscreants tend to scapegoat those not involved.
This diabolic ploy to mislead the public is outrightly condemned by the NPO, Senapati, and shall not leave any stone unturned to find out the culprit and give befitting punishment, it said.
The NPO Senapati is firm on the standing resolution Number 2 taken on May 5 in a joint meeting of the Tribe Hohos and the Executives of NPO that "No Meitei or Kuki should create any problem in Senapati district" .
NPO will continue to extend logistic support to both the Meitei and Kuki who are stranded, it said, reminding the warring communities to refrain from dragging the Nagas into the conflict.
The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has expressed deep concern over the mysterious disappearance and suspected abduction of the two Meitei boys.
It said the mobile phones of the missing boys were found placed near a petrol pump in Senapati, and this has the potential to create mistrust and misunderstanding between different communities.
As everyone is suffering due to the conflict, it said the Nagas have been maintaining a neutral position, advocating and appealing for peace and for normalcy to return to the State.
However, the act of "planting" the phones of the two missing boys in Naga area seems like a deliberate ploy to implicate the Nagas and drag them into the ongoing ethnic conflict, said SDSA, calling it a very cowardly and a very shameful act.
SDSA said it will not tolerate such acts of manipulation and attempt to frame the Nagas, it said condemning the incident in the strongest term.
SDSA urged the authorities concerned to investigate the incident without any bias and leniency.
The student body assured all support in the investigation and said the probe should leave no stones unturned to bring the culprit to justice.
