Taking advantage of the relaxation of curfew in Moreh, Kuki women created disturbances to the public order and tried to stoke an uproar at the border town today.
A large number of Kuki women gathered at Public Ground, Moreh and tried to ignite an uproar on the charge that security forces have been oppressing Kuki men at the border town.
On seeing the large gathering with an ulterior motive to create law and order problems, a strong column of RAF came out and took positions.
This development deterred the Kuki women and they aborted their plan to ignite an uproar, informed a source.
On the other hand, combined teams of Manipur Police Commando, IRB and BSF have been carrying out search operations in different areas of Moreh continuously.
Search operations were conducted from 8 am to 4.30 pm today too at different places including B Muonna Veng and many wooded areas.
In the course of the search operations led by Special Commando SP in-charge Th Krishnatombi, explosive materials, camouflage uniforms and three vehicles without registration numbers were recovered.
Across the international border, Myanmar army has been carrying out intensive operations to nab Kuki militants fleeing from Manipur (India) to Myanmar.
The Myanmar army has sealed the Indo-Myanmar border since Saturday.
A loud explosion was heard across the border from Myanmar side near Moreh Gate number 2 at around 6.30 pm today.
As the Myanmar army intensified military operations in Sagaing region in the Indo-Myanmar border region, gun battles were reported from different places during the last four days.
It was reported that around 12 Kuki militants who fled across the border have been killed in encounters with the Myanmar army, said the source.
