All preparations have been completed to celebrate World Indigenous Day 2025 at the City Convention Centre Imphal on August 9, said Ashang Kasar, president Indigenous People's Forum Manipur, appealing to all concerned to not call any bandh on the day.
At Imphal Hotel today, Ashang kasar said the World Indigenous Day on August 9 will be observed by the Indigenous People's Forum Manipur under the aegis of the North East Indigenous People's Forum.
The day will be observed under the theme "Indigenous people's rights to self determination: A pathway for food security and Sovereignty".
Tripura's titular king, MLAs from Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya and delegates from seven NE States will attend the observance, he said.
The observance will seek to protect the rights of the indigenous people, and it will serve as a platform to expose the true nature of the ongoing Manipur conflict, he added.
Cultural shows of different indigenous communities will be showcased during the event, he said, appealing to the people to attend.
