Flood: RSS extends helping hands

Karyakartas of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Manipur Prant along with Manipur Seva Samiti have extended assistance to 3251 households in various flood affected regions of the State since June 1.Some of the areas where the karyakartas served include Wangkhei, Keithel Ashangbi, Meihoubam Lampak, Ayangpali Heinou Makhong, Kongpal, Khurai Sajor Leikai, Popular Relief Camp, Heikru Makhong Relief Camps, Salanthong Relief Camp and Nongmeibung Relief Camp.
Twenty-five people were also rescued by the swayamsevaks of Manipur Prant, according to Brahmacharimayum Bilki Sharma, Karyavah (general secretary) of RSS Imphal Jilla.
He added that 250 karyakartas are actively participating in relief and rescue activities.
According to Government sources, nearly 1,70,000 people have been affected in 643 localities, 36,000 houses have suffered damages, 102 landslides have occurred and the death of a 55 year old person has been confirmed while several people remain missing, added the statement.
Government and civil bodies have opened helplines and established 77 relief camps for the displaced people.
