'145 sanitary latrines to be constructed at Lairen Sajik Village'

Under Swachh Bharat Mission, a total of 145 sanitary latrines will be constructed at Lairen Sajik Village under Kadangband Gram Panchayat Zilla Parishad soon, informed L Swamikanta, director of Communication Capacity Development Unit.
He was speaking during a one-day awareness programme on Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) at Lairen Sajik Village on Saturday.
Swamikanta, who attended the programme as guest of honor, said that altogether 145 houses under Lairen Sajik Village will be identified for constructing the sanitary latrines under the ambitious Swachh Bharat Mission which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the sole aim to maintain cleanliness in the country.
Observing that construction of sanitary latrine in residential houses is necessary to maintain cleanliness, he appealed to people of the village to extend co-operation while constructing the latrines.
Speaking as guest of honor, K Ibochou, AE Imphal West admitted that there is no water supply scheme in the village and added that the residents of the village are compelled to use pond water for cooking and drinking purposes for the last many years.
He made an announcement that efforts would be put in to ensure availability of water from the water supply scheme to the villagers at the earliest possible.
Saturday's programme was also attended by K Sumati, Kadangband Gram Panchayat Zilla Parishad and N Bobi, Pradhan of Kadangbam GP.
