Oil tankers set to start for Imphal

Imphal, November 06 2011:
With repairing of the broken Sadakghat Bridge at Silchar finally, stranded oil tankers would start heading for Imphal tomorrow.
According to information received from the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, repairing of the bridge was completed today.
Consequently, all the stranded oil tankers and other trucks carrying essential commodities would start leaving for Imphal tomorrow.
Necessary security measures have also been put in place in this regard.
It is said that there are in all 65 Imphal-bound oil tankers stationing at Silchar and another 22 oil tankers at Jiribam.
Fuel outlets in Manipur have stopped giving fuel since this morning following the running out of stock.
Fuel tankers have stopped shipping in the commodities in the last few days following break-down of a bridge at Sadarghat in Silchar.
Another reason that gives hurdle to the transporters have been the intensification of blockade by Naga organisations.
