Imphal, November 06 2011:
AMUCO, UPF, NIPCO, HERICOUN, IPSA, Mapi Council and CLK have jointly appealed for lifting the proposed total blockade of Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) and the ongoing counter economic blockade of UNC in consideration of the hardships being faced by the people.
Addressing a joint press conference at the office of NIPCO today, Vice President of HERICOUN M Churamani observed that the 3-month economic blockade of Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee and the ongoing counter economic blockade of United Naga Council have seriously affected the lives of the people, especially the daily wage earners, following shortage of essential commodities.
In such a situation, imposition of yet another indefinite total blockade by JDDC would compound the difficulties of the people.
Chief functionaries of other civil society organizations, who were present during the press conference, also expressed strong reservation over the alleged indifferent attitude of the government of India towards the suffering of
the people.
