MPCC celebrates R-Day, remembers Rani Gaidinliu

Imphal, January 27 2025: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) joined the nationwide celebration of the 76th Republic Day, while also commemorating the 110th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu at Congress Bhawan, here, on Sunday.

MPCC president K Meghachandra unfurled the national flag to commence the celebration which was attended by CLP leader O Ibobi Singh, CWC member Gaikhangam and other Congress leaders and workers.

Addressing the gathering, Ibobi recounted that India remained under the British rule for a long time, gained independence on August 15, 1947 and became a republic with the adoption of own Constitution on January 26, 1950 .

Though the Republic Day is a joyous occasion for the whole country, people of Manipur are in no mood to celebrate due to the prevailing unrest situation under BJP rule, he rued.

MPCC president K Meghachandra also said that the history of India means Congress party's history and the party feels proud for this.

He assured that party leaders and workers are committed to shoulder responsibilities for ushering in peace and development in Manipur.
