Kakching, September 19 2026: Miss Universe India 2025 4th Runner-Up Sarangthem Nirupama has taken up a significant initiative to address the inconvenience faced by commuters along the Wabagai Lamkhai-Sugnu road stretch in Kakching district.

With an aim to ease the difficulties faced by the commuters along this stretch of road, she initiated the renovation work of this dilapidated road by filling up potholes from Wapokpi and Korshantabi which have posed serious threats to the lives of the daily commuters.

The locals and meira paibi of the region came out and helped in the renovation activities.

Speaking in connection with the initiative, Sarangthem Nirupama said that she decided to take up the renovation work after coming across the recent news of the death of a pregnant woman owing to the dilapidated condition of this stretch of road.

It may be noted that the woman died on the way to another hospital after being referred from Sub District Hospital Sugnu.

Expressing concern over the difficulties faced by the local commuters who have been compelled to take this route for essential and other activities, Nirupama said that she took up the initiative with financial help of her family members.

She also extended gratitude to the locals who have helped her in the cause.
