48 more weapons, ammos surrendered : 83 pc of deposited weapons from valley districts

A total of 48 weapons, various ammunition, and other miscellaneous items were surrendered in Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Imphal East districts on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A total of 789 weapons, thousands of ammunition, explosive materials and other tactical gears have been surrendered by the public as on Wednesday since the Governor made his first appeal to surrender looted and illegally held weapons.
The surrendered arms include 321 non-prohibited bore (NPB) including locally made weapons, and 468 prohibited bore (PB) either looted from government armouries or illegally acquired.
So far, 130 firearms including 81 NPB and 49 PB have been surrendered from the hill districts while 659 firearms including 240 NPB and 419 PBs have been surrendered from the valley districts.

The surrendered firearms from the valley account for 83.5 per cent of the arms handed over to security authorities.
According to a press release issued by Manipur Police Control Room, in Churachandpur district, a locally made 12-bore single-barrel gun, six locally made pumpi with four shells, a locally made landmine, two locally made lathod shells, a walkie-talkie set, and an ammunition pouch were surrendered at the office of the SP on Wednesday.
At Saikul PS under Kangpokpi district, eight pumpi, a country-made bolt-action rifle, three country-made 12-bore guns, twelve 12-bore cartridges, four pumpi empty cartridges, and seven live pumpi cartridges were handed over.
In Imphal East district, weapons and ammunition were surrendered at multiple locations.
At Lamlai PS, items included a .303 rifle with magazine sans breach block, a single-barrel gun, an improvised M-18 gun, two BP plates, two 36 hand grenades, 40 blank cartridges, 20 rounds of .303 rifle, a green No 80MK-1, a charger guide, a camouflage shirt, three BP vests (two olive green and one black), and an anti-riot smoke grenade.
At the Commando Unit under Irilbung PS, a single-barrel gun, two pistols with magazines, two 36 hand grenades, five tear smoke shells, a rubber bullet shell, three tube launchers, a radio wireless set, two radio wireless set chargers, six hand grenade detonators, eleven 5.56 mm rounds, five .303 rounds, and a WP Green No 80 MK 1 grenade were surrendered.
At 7th Manipur Rifles, Khabeisoi under Heingang PS, items surrendered included an AK rifle with three magazines and 11 rounds, a .303 MK-III rifle, a country-made 9mm pistol with magazine, four .303 blank rounds, five .22 cartridges, thirteen 5.56 mm rounds, eight 7.62 mm rounds, six 9mm rounds, five .303 HD cartridges, six .32 short-type cartridges, two 36 hand grenades, four 80 WP grenades, 10 tear smoke shell soft nose (SR), nine tear smoke shell soft nose (LR), three tear smoke grenades, two Kenwood handsets, a .303 LMG magazine, a 7.62 mm LMG magazine, an INSAS LMG magazine, an AK series short magazine, three INSAS rifle magazines, a G-series magazine, a country-made carbine magazine, a mono pod for INSAS LMG, four SLR tube launchers, and five kg of gunpowder.
At Heingang PS, one SLR and one CMG carbine were surrendered.
At Porompat PS, 13 gas gun stun shells, a smoke grenade, a 51 mm mortar bomb illuminating, a BP helmet, a hand grenade, and an SMG carbine were handed over.
Additional items surrendered at Porompat PS included a 9mm pistol with a holster, six 9mm rounds, two misfired 9mm rounds, four 7,62 rounds, and a 12-bore cartridge.
In Bishnupur district, weapons and ammunition were surrendered at three locations.
At the CDO Unit under Bishnupur police station, the surrendered items included two SLR rifles with magazines, an INSAS rifle with two magazines and 36 rounds, two LMG magazines with nine rounds, a .303 rifle with two magazines, a smoke shell, three .303 missed rounds, 15 rounds (calibre not mentioned), an SBBL gun, five detonators, and a hand grenade.
At Kumbi PS, two locally-made bolt-action rifles and one pistol with a magazine were handed over while at Phougakchao Ikhai PS, one SMG carbine with magazine and a single-barrel gun were surrendered.
In Imphal East district, the CDO Unit under Porompat PS received a 9mm pistol with magazine and 10 rounds, 15 rounds of 5.56mm, seven .38mm rounds, six 12-bore cartridges, two No 36 hand grenades, a stun grenade, a bulletproof jacket, two helmet patkas, two BP plates, two magazine pouches, 14 SLR rifle charger clips, two .303 rifle charger clips, and four illumination rounds.
At Andro PS, a hand grenade with detonator, an old unidentified bomb weighing approximately 5kg, seven rounds of M16 rifle, four rounds of AK rifle, 21 casings of INSAS rifle, 17 casing of 9mm calibre, 14 casings of 7.62mm, 298 casings of.303 rifle, two live tracer rounds, a fibre helmet, and eight bulletproof jackets were surrendered.
At Porompat PS, two pistols with six rounds, six stun grenades, two bulletproof jackets, and two BP plates were surrendered.
At Irilbung PS, the public handed over a country-made pistol, three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, six 12-bore cartridges, six anti-riot shells, three bulletproofjackets, three BP plates, a helmet, and a 7.62mm tracer round.
In Imphal West district, at Mayang Imphal PS, the surrendered items comprised an SBBL gun, one .36 HE hand grenade, three tear smoke shells, a soft-nose tear smoke shell, five SBBL cartridges, five SLR rounds, five .303 rounds, an AK round, a .32 pistol (USA) with three rounds, five Baofeng handheld sets, two helmets, four Baofeng handheld set chargers, a BP plastic plate, two BP covers, a high-trajectory modified mortar pump, four pairs of shoes, a camouflage shirt, a camouflage pant, and a jacket.
