The 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector conducted a medical, dental cum HIV awareness camp on June 14 at Kshetri leikai with Commandant of the AR unit Col SC Rana inaugurating the programme.
A team of three medical officers and a lady gynaecologist catered to the requirements of 431 patients including 51 Myanmar nationals, a pRO IGAR (S) release said while informing that another medical camp was organised under the aegis of 12 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector at Phaikoh village on June 10.A large number of local populace including people from across the international boundary were benefited by the medical camp, it added.
On the otherhand, 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector conducted a seminar on 'Agriculture and Allied Crops' in collaboration with Central Agriculture University at Chandel today with the aim to curb the trend of poppy cultivation and educate the local farmers on the latest and alternative ways of farming.
The programme was graced by GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen NK Singh, IGAR (S) Maj Gen CA Krishnan, Commander 26 Sector Brig SK Bhanot and Dean of CAU Dr Iboton Singh, said a PRO IGAR (S) release further adding that seeds were also distributed to the local farmers.
