Bhagyachandra dance fest kicks off

The 10th Bhagyachandra National Festival of Classical Dance was opened today by Chief Minister O Ibobi at Shri Shri Gopinath Temple, Ningthoukhong.
However, the main events of the festival would be held at Shri Shri Govindaji Temple, Kangla from November 7 to 9 .
Classical dance genres like Manipuri, Odissi, Mohiniyattam, Bharat Natyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Saltriya etc would be presented during the festival.

The festival was opened today with Nat Sankirtana and Raas performance.
Speaking at the opening function, Chief Minister O Ibobi stated that Raas dance and Nat Sankirtana are known across the world as art forms of highest quality, largely as a result of Maharaj Bhagyachandra's immense contributions in the field of art and culture.
It is in honour of Maharaj Bhagyachandra that Nat Sankirtana and Raas dance are being presented on this full moon day, Ibobi stated.

As a part of the festival, teams of JN Manipur Dance Academy presented Nat Sankirtan performance at Shri Shri Radha Krishna Temple, Murshidabad on November 3 and Shri Shri Anumahapradhu Temple, Nabadweep on November 4 .
The classical dance festival being hosted by Manipur may bring peace on earth, Ibobi prayed.
Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam remarked that holding the National classical dance festival at Ningthoukhong is a historic event.
