Imphal, November 29 2018:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) has no plan to field candidate in the next year's Lok Sabha election said the party in a statement issued by its Central Committee member M Totomshana (Nongshaba) today.
The party refuted a statement made by a "self styled MPP president O Jugindro" which claimed that the party is fielding candidate to contest the election scheduled next year.
"The statement made by the self styled MPP president is not correct and the party has no intention of fielding any candidate.
The statement of O Jugindro, published in the November 25 issue of the Sangai Express is false and baseless," said the party.
"Although the party is registered with the Election Commission of India, the party has not been recognised as of yet.
This was known after an RTI was filed by one Advocate L Sanjoy.
As the party is not recognised yet, the party can not field any candidate to contest the election," clarified the party.
