Greets the Zeliangrong people and other kindred tribes and indigenous people of Assam, Manipurand Nagaland on the occasion of the 87th Martyr's Day of Haipou Jadonang, Zeliangrong United Front recalled that the foundation of its organization is based on the revolutionary spirit of Haipou Jadonang who sacrificed himself forthe cause of the people' s freedom.
A press release issued by the vice chairman of ZUF, S Kamson conveyed that Haipou Jadonang stood up against all odds and fought the mighty British colonial power to ensure that the Zeliangrongs and other indigenous people in the region will not be subjected to exploitation and subjugation by alien rulers.
His famous slogan, 'Makaam meirui gwang tupuni', roughly interpreted as the sons of the soil will rule, has been an inspiration to all indigenous people in North Eastern region.
In the Dilung Parade Ground, as a mark of respect, ZUF cadres gave solemn gun salute to the departed leader.
In the evening, candles were lit around the campus to pay homage to Haipou Jadonang, it added.
ZUF also detailed the movement by Haipou Jadonang against the British forthe welfare of the people and added that one of the most worthy noted persons who was greatly inspired by Haipou Jadonang was Rani Gaidinliu who took up the mantle of leadership after Haipou Jadonang was executed by the British colonial government.
ZUF also lauded Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Union, Zeliangrong Youth Front, Zeliangrong Students Union and other Zeliangrong bodies who observed the Martyr's day in several places in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland and other places in India.
ZUF also thanked the various organizing committee of tournaments and seminars, village authority, households and individuals who participated in observing the Martyr's Day of Haipou Jadonang by lighting candles and shouting "Zeliangrong Ringtelou" in unison to send the message that Zeliangrong and its kindred people shall reign with freedom one day.
