Kangpokpi, August 30 2018:
Yet another alleged failure of the BJP Government over its own commitment surfaced again at Kangpokpi District Saikul subdivision with Kuki students' Organisation claiming that the Saikul CHC, which was upgraded from PHC last December, has no CHC grade development.
"Almost a year after it was upgraded, Saikul CHC has no CHC grade development," alleged KSO.
Health and Family Welfare Minister had laid the foundation stone of Community Health Centre, Saikul in the presence of Director, Health Services after the PHC was upgraded to Community Health Centre on December 10, 2017, said KSO.
According to KSO, the people of Saikul alleged that the Community Health Centre, Saikul exist only in paper till today since no necessary infrastructures and adequate human resources are put in to place since its upgradation.
KSO Saikul Block inspected the Community Health Centre, Saikul and found it lacking many necessary infrastructures and human resources, said Haochinlen Kilong, general secretary, KSO Saikul Block.
No adequate staffs has been posted so far at the CHC.
Five Medical Officers are supposed to be posted as per the sanctioned post but there are only two Medical Officers at the CHC, who are looking after the centre 24x7, he said.
Informing that the only Ayush Medical Officer was also transferred to Phayeng a couple of months back without a replacement, he said that another Medical Officer was transferred to Bishnupur District recently without replacement.
This has concerned the people and the student body, he said and alleged the State Government of "discrimination".
While highlighting the grievances of the people, Haochinlen Kilong said that CHC Saikul being the only health centre in the area has to cater to the health needs of more than 40,000 - 50, 000 population.
The daily intake of patients at the centre is more than one hundred, he said.
Strongly concerned with the severe lack of doctors and infrastructure needs of the CHC, the student body appealed the State Government to immediately issue an order for posting of required Medical Officers at CHC Saikul and take up necessary steps for overall development of the health centre in the interest of the people.
It further urged the State Government and authorities concerned not to transfer staff of the CHC without arrangement of a replacement before.
KSO Saikul also urged the concerned authority to open an Enrolment Centre for CMHT at Saikul in the interest of the poor people of the area who are facing various difficulties in availing the service at Kangpokpi.
