CPI pays homage to martyrs

Manipur State Council, CPI is paying its revolutionary greetings to martyrs on the occasion of June 18.N Mangi, Spokesperson of MSC/CPI recalling the June 18 incident stated that the unforgettable incident happened after the controversial words "Without Territorial Limits" were added to the existing ceasefire agreement between Indian Govt.and NSCN (IM) on June 14, 2001 at Bangkok.
Indian Govt.and NSCN (IM) started peace talk in 1997 when United Front Govt.was there at the Centre and Indrajit Gupta, CPI leader was the Central Home Minister.
At that time the ceasefire between the two sides existed only within the boundary of Nagaland.
But the Bangkok Declaration happened when NDA leaded by BJP formed the Govt.at the Centre.
People's movement forced the Central Govt.to withdraw the controversial words from the Declaration.
But still people of the State need to take care of.The same Govt.of that time is still ruling at the Centre,it added.
He also recalled how Marxist Irabot revolted to save Manipur when Indian State under the plan of Congress leader Sardar Patel tried to form Purbanchal Pradesh in which Manipur was forced to reduce just on a status of a District in 1948 .
It may be mentioned thatone of the biggest movements of modern history, peoples from different sections of the Statecame out violently at streets and protested against the Declaration whereState Assembly, CM's bungalow were turned into ashes, snatching the lives of 18 persons.
