A member of Kshetrigao Bengoon Awang Leikai Meira Paibi, Nasim Bhanu has warned of intense agitation if demands raised by the JAC in connection with the death of Sofiya are not acted upon within 24 hours.
She was speaking at a sit-in protest staged today at Kshetrigao Bengoon Awang Leikai by the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Sofiya demanding justice for the victim.
Nasim Bhanu said Sofiya (30) of Kshetrigao Bengoon Awang Leikai, wife of Sharuk Khan (34), s/o (L) Khorimayum Suban of Kairang Tera Makhong, was found dead in a suspicious manner on October 24.In connection with the suspicious death, the JAC had submitted a memorandum with three demands to the Superintendent of Police, Imphal East on October 27, but no action has been taken so far, prompting the JAC along with local clubs and Meira Paibi to stage the protest.
The JAC demanded that the post mortem of Sofiya, whose death is suspicious, be video-recorded and the report be shared with the JAC, and that her husband Sharukh Khan and all family members be interrogated to deliver justice.
If the demands are not met within 24 hours, intense agitation will be launched, she said.
As per a resolution taken by the JAC, the body of Sofiya will not be claimed until justice is delivered, she added.
