SSUM demands removal of COHSEM Controller of Examinations

Imphal, October 29 2026: Socialist Students Union of Manipur (SSUM) has demanded removal of the Controller of Examinations of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) for allegedly disclosing the identity of question setters.

Addressing the media at its office at Lalambung today, SSUM president S Yaima Meetei said revealing names of question setters by the Controller is a major blunder and cannot be ignored.

He said exams conducted by the Council in past years were marred by lack of secrecy and there were instances of question leak.

Questioning how question leak can be prevented when question setters are disclosed by the Controller himself, Yaima said the Government should not retain a Controller who cannot maintain confidentiality.

He said representations have been submitted to the Chief Minister regarding the matter but no action has been taken till date, prompting the union to launch democratic agitations.

Saying they do not wish to launch agitation considering public hardships, Yaima said the future of many students is at stake.

If the Government fails to remove the Controller who has endangered the student community and failed to maintain secrecy of examination, SSUM will launch intense democratic agitations and the Government will be responsible for any consequences, he warned.
