SLRs snatched from MLA's escort team amid intense search Ops

Unknown persons snatched three Self-Loading Rifles (SLR) allocated to state security personnel from a farmhouse owned by Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan at Leikinthabi under Sekmai police station on Tuesday around 8 pm.
The personnel belong to the MLA's security team.
Upon receiving report of the snatching incident, police teams including senior officers rushed to the site and carried out search operation.
However, there is no report of any arrest or recovery of the snatched arms till the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, in follow-up search operation based on FIR registered by Bishnupur district police, several items including six vehicles believed to have been used by KCP (PWG) cadres were recovered on Tuesday.
According to a police source, four cadres of KCP (PWG) were on Monday arrested during a search operation conducted in Nambol area.
They are identified as Khundrakpam Rojit, Thokchom Sornu, Khwairakpam Avinash and Khundrakpam Ongbi Victoria.
In continuation of investigation of the case, a combined team of district civil police and commando personnel conducted search operation in Langoljam Kangjeibung, Kamong, Leimaram, Ireng-band and Heinoubok area under Nambol police station on Tuesday.
During the search operation, the combined district police team narrowed down on a house at Kamong area where KCP (PWG) cadres usually take shelter on return from Kout-ruk.
On spotting the combined police team approaching the house, KCP (PWG) cadres fled towards Leimaram side.
When checked the house and the surrounding areas, the combined police team recovered six vehicles including one Scorpio and one i20 car, numerous combat dresses, sleeping bags, blankets, helmets, mattresses, utensils and food items.
Search operation in areas where the cadres could be hiding continued till late evening, the source added.
Security forces also conducted search operation at various places on Tuesday.
As per police reports, combined teams of Kakching District Police and F-Coy 131 Bn BSF carried out house-to-house search at Serou Part 2 under Sugnu police station from 6:20 am to 7:20 am, Bishnupur District Police and 225 Bn CRPF B-Coy at Santhong Makha Leikai Ward No.7 under Phougakchao Ikhai police station from 6 am to 7:30 am and Thoubal District Police and 1st Bn BSF C-Coy at Phundrei Maning Ching and Mayai Leikai area under Khongjom police station from 5 am to 6:30 am.
There is no report of any arms seizure or arrest made in the operations.
