String puppetry training programme wraps up

Imphal, March 26 2025: The training cum exhibition programme of the "Traditional String Puppetry Thougal Jagoi" wrapped up yesterday at G Jadu Sharma's Mandop Hall at Thiyam Leishangkhong, Imphal West.

As per a statement, the training cum exhibition programme was organised by the Moppet Decoration & Cultural Centre (MDCC) and conducted under the Chief Ministergi Artistesinggi Tengbang (CMAT) to spread and preserve the traditional rare art form of Manipuri Hang-Lai (string puppetry) .

The training cum exhibition of Manipuri Hang-Lai was carried out under the guidance of G Basanta Sharma, Puppetry Junior & Senior Fellowship awardee (Ministry of Culture) and Gurus L Thambalngou Singh, G Jugeshwor Sharma and P Prabila Devi.

Twenty trainees participated in the programme.

Notable dignitaries present at the valedictory ceremony include G Sanatombi Sharma, president, MDCC; L Bihari Singh, retd Headmaster and H Budhi Singh, Guru of Shri Krisna Leela as the functional president, chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
