7 UGs, 1 Vehicle Lifter arrested

Imphal, September 18 2014:
At least seven insurgents belonging to different proscribed underground organizations and one vehicle lifter were arrested during the last three days.
According to a press release of PRO, Manipur Police Deptt.
.SGautam Singh, MPS; security forces arrested two members of PREPAK (PRO), one each of PREPAK (VC), KCP, UNLF, KCP (MC) and KYKL from different places of the state from Sept.
15 to Sept.
17 .
During a search operation conducted on September 15 last, a combined team of Imphal East District Police commando and 30 Assam Rifles reportedly arrested an active member of PREPAK (PRO) organization identified as Moirangthem Ibomcha Singh (69) yrs S/o (L) M.Seba Singh of Kongpal Laishram Leikai, said the Police release.
Another member of PREPAK (PRO) identified as Mangdengbam Shamu Singh @ Tomba (50) yrs S/o (L) M.Kala Singh of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai was also arrested the same day from Lamlong Bazar in front of SBI ATM booth, said the release while adding that one mobile phone handset and one SIM card were seized from his possession.
On Shamu's disclosure, the combined team recovered one Chinese hand grenade from his residence.
According to Police reports, both the arrestees were involved in extortion of huge amount of money from the general public, private firms, offices, etc., and also transported arms and ammunition from one place to another on various occasions.
A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station and investigation is going on, added the report.
On Sept.
16, a combined team of Thoubal District Police commando and 22 Assam Rifles nabbed an active member of PREPAK (VC) organisation namely Huidrom Suraj @ Black Day (47) yrs S/o H.Mani Singh of Wabagai Terapishak during frisking along Wabagai Sekmaijin road at Terapishak near Pole Star College, the release informed.
The arrestee was involved in extortion of money from the general public of Wabagai Terapishak and Sekmaijin areas, claimed the Police release while adding that a case has been registered at Kakching Police Station.
During a frisking along NH-102 at Waithou Bazar near the bridge on Sept.
16, a combined team of Thoubal District Police commando unit and 2 Assam Rifles arrested an overground member of KCP namely Aribam Jiten @ Inao (45) yrs S/o A.Lalmani of Khagempalli Huidrom Leirak, according to the report which claimed that he was involved in extortion of money from contractors of Government departments.
A case has been registered at Lilong Police Station and investigation is going on, added the release.
On Sept.
17 last, a team of Imphal West District Police commando unit arrested one active member of UNLF organisation, namely, Okram Sawankumar @ Abothe Singh (27) yrs S/o O.Manglem Singh of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai, and one active member of KCP(MC) organisation namely, Khuraijam Helemjit @ Naochouba Singh (28) yrs S/o Kh.
Munal Singh of Mayang Langjing Tamang from Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai, Imphal West.
Police report said they were involved in serving demand letters to different government offices and private business men in Imphal area and also transported arms and explosives from Moreh to Imphal etc.
One mobile phone handset each were seized from their possession, added the release saying a case has been registered at Imphal Police Station.
In another search operation conducted on Sept.
17 at Kongkham Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district, a combined team of Bishnupur District Police commando and 12 Bihar Regiment arrested an active member of KYKL identified as Ningthoujam Dinesh Singh (42) yrs S/o N.Lakshman Singh of Kongkham Awang Leikai, the Police report said and added that one mobile handset along with two SIM cards were seized from his possession.
A case has been registered at Nambol Police Station and investigation is going on, added the release.
Meanwhile, during a drive on Sept.
15, a team of Imphal East District Police commando unit arrested one vehicle lifter, namely, Md.Fazlur Rahaman @ Abash Khan (35) yrs S/o (L) Md.Razual Haque of Thoubal Moijing Mina Bazar from Hatta, the Police report stated, while revealing that he is a member of a gang indulging in stealing, lifting and selling various types of vehicles within and outside Manipur.
One Scooter Honda Dio, green in colour, without registration number and a vehicle registration certificate of Honda Activa having registration No.MN01Q/2703 along with one mobile phone handset with four SIM cards were seized from his possession, it added.
On his disclosure, the team recovered one Honda Activa (black colour) bearing registration No.MN01Z/2615, one Honda Activa (red colour) without registration number and one Yamaha R15 (red colour) bearing registration No.MN014D/1913, the release pointed out, saying a case has been registered at Porompat Police Station for further investigation.
