Bypass road to be set up

The Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) has announced that a bypass road will be set up to enable trucks carrying essential items including medicines stuck in Nagaland after the Phesama road sink to reach Mao through Kohima.
Speaking to the media, MDA general secretary Kshetrimayum Sanjoy said that preparation is underway to set up the 25-km bypass road to facilitate truck movement from Kohima to Kigwema, Mao, and Tadubi with the assistance of Senapati District Truck Owners' Association, Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union, and Manipur Gorkha Motor Workers' Welfare Association.
He said that MDA has entrusted one JCB poclain, one recovery van and three ambulances from its Sekmai office to the partner associations and unions to build the bypass road.
Sanjoy said that there is no indication of immediate repair work commencing on the collapsed section of National Highway-2 at Phesama.
