CM meets Governor, advised to maintain peace

Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya reportedly advised chief minister N Biren to maintain peace in the state as the latter briefed the state's constitutional head on prevailing law and order situation.
CM Biren called on Governor Acharya at Raj Bhavan, here, on Tuesday evening and wished him a very happy and healthy life ahead on the occasion of 'Krishna Janmashtami' .
According to a PRO Raj Bhavan release, it was the first meeting of N Biren and Acharya after the latter assumed office as Governor of Manipur recently.
The CM briefed the Governor about the law and order, overall security situation, follow-up measures and also about the state's administration to which the Governor directed the CM for maintaining peace and also for ensuring safety and security of the people in the state.
Among others, Thoubal SSP Rakesh Balwal also called on the Governor on Tuesday and briefed him on the security situation in Thoubal district.
Balwal informed the Governor of security measures implemented to ensure public safety and to control any untoward incidents, said the Raj Bhavan PRO.
Kisan Morcha, Ukhrul district president Mayonpam Gachui, along with two others also called on the Governor on Tuesday to highlight the issues faced by the people of Ukhrul district regarding connectivity, infrastructure, education, and healthcare sectors.
The Morcha president also informed the Governor that the deplorable conditions of Imphal-Ukhrul road had a significant impact on the social-economic conditions of the people in the district.
Gachui and his team then urged the Governor to visit the district and assess the situation.
While listening to their concerns, the Governor assured them that he will visit the district in mid-September and take stock of the situation.
Officials of Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (AMBA) also met with the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday and invited him to be the chief guest at the closing ceremony of 2nd Governor's Cup Boxing Championship on September 29.The Governor handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to officials of the association and assured to provide all possible support from the Raj Bhavan for the development of sports in the state.
Governor also wished good luck to N Robash Meitei and L Bidya Devi who are among the Indian boxing team for the ASBC Asian School Boys and Girls Boxing Championship, which will be held at AI Ain City Abu Dhabi from August 27 to September 10, 2024 .
