Chandel, January 14 2026: Upa Nelson Ngoruw was formally installed as the new chief chairman of Kapaam village in a traditional Bujuur (Moyon) customary ceremony held at the Kapaam Public Ground on Tuesday.

The installation ceremony was conducted by Upa Francis Moyon, president of the Bujuur Aanchung Puh (BAP), Rev Adoreson Khartu, Associate Pastor of Kapaam Baptist Church, officiated as the blessing minister, while the programme was moderated by Augustine Roel, Zuwrkuum, Kapaam Village Authority (KVA) .

Organised by the Kapaam Village Authority, the ceremony began with an opening prayer by Rev Ng Philia, Pastor of Kapaam Baptist Church.

The event also featured cultural performances by R Deenpar and R Bomy, which added colour and traditional significance to the occasion.

The formal handing-over of the responsibilities was carried out by the outgoing chief'chairman, Serbum Borpha Moyon.

A vote of thanks was delivered by Serbum Jenial Moyon and the programme concluded with a closing prayer by Ch Rijoy, Khurah, KVA .
