World Health Day observed across state

As elsewhere, World Health Day was also observed in Manipur on Friday.
In connection with the observance of World Health Day, Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre organised a health awareness activities programme with patients at the premises of the Institute on Friday.
During the programme, the patients were informed about the importance of maintaining good health and regular health check-up to remain fit.
Speaking on the occasion, Institute director and CEO Dr (Prof) GS Moirangthem pointed out that everyone has a right to good health.
To attain the target of 'Health for All', we must not solely depend on government machineries.
Each person must follow the laws of nature such sleeping and waking up early, doing regular exercise, regular intake of fruits and abstaining from alcohol, meat and oil.
He then urged patients to report to cancer specialists if they find any signs or symptoms of cancer.
The government also needs to take concrete steps to prevent 'Care Gap', he said, while stressing the need for government or corporate health care providers to provide easy and affordable health care to patients.
Pourabi Rising Star Club also observed World Health Day on the theme of 'Health for all' along with conducting a free health camp under the supervision of BJP Manipur Pradesh Medical Cell convenor Dr Ksh Kala at Pourabi community hall on Friday.
During the health camp, around 150 people were screened for BP, Blood Sugar, Thyroid function, ECG, nerve test, blood grouping test, urine for micro albumin test and dental hygiene.
Later, Dr Ksh Kala distributed shawls to the elderly people of Pourabi.
State Working Committee of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur State Branch also observed the day Under the theme of 'Health for All' at IMA Hall, Lamphelpat on Friday.
In his speech as the chief guest, Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar stressed the need for more awareness on mental health issues particularly depression among young people, considering the rising number of suicide cases.
He then appealed to the general public to exercise regularly, take precautions wherever necessary, avoid consuming non-regulated imported foods from outside and utilise the existing health care facilities.
During the observance, which was presided over by IMA Manipur State Branch president Dr RK Lenin Singh, Art of Living state director and Government Programme senior faculty Roshnikumar Sharma spoke on 'Spiritual Health'; IMA Manipur State Branch vice president Dr S Gojendra Singh on 'Mental Health' and Manipur Health Services joint director Dr Y Premchandra Singh on 'Non-Communicable Disease' .
Meanwhile, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Manipur State Branch observed World Health Day at its state office complex, MG Avenue, here, on Friday.
The observance was attended by Hiyanglam AC MLA Dr Y Radheshyam as chief guest, IRCS Manipur vice president Dr Y Mohen Singh as president, former general secretary (retired IAS) Dr RK Nimai Singh as guest of honour and IMA Manipur State Branch president Dr RK Lenin Singh as special invitee.
Students of Biramangol College, GP Women's College, Irengbam Thamcha Nursing Institute, Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School and TG Higher Secondary School attended the observance, wherein they were enlightened on the importance of good health.
